Today’s modern lifestyle can be busier than ever, and at some point we’ll all need to make some time for ourselves. To make sure you get the necessary “me time” here are a few tips to make sure you don’t overlook yourself this holiday season (and beyond).
Packed schedules might make you feel productive at first but they will quickly lead to exhaustion later. You don’t want to spend every minute planning for the next appointment, so make sure to leave plenty of down time space in your calendar so you can sit back and just enjoy this time of year as well.
Go For A Walk
Yes, we know it’s cold. However, going for a walk can be one of the easiest and most helpful ways to clear your head. This can be done in either a public place or out in nature. Just unplug from all distractions and spend a few minutes strolling and appreciating everything around you. This gives your mind a much needed break from daily stresses.
Spending some time each day reflecting on your own thoughts can be very therapeutic. It allows you some time to focus on yourself and your goals while taking a step back from your everyday demands. This gives you the opportunity to reset and prioritize everything going in your life and make any necessary adjustments.
Read Cover to Cover
Taking a break from reality can be a great way to enjoy some time alone. One of the easiest ways to escape is letting yourself get cover to cover on the newspaper or a good magazine. Reading can help you unplug from the holiday demands and give you a chance to relax and recharge your batteries. Plus you never know the tips you might find helpful or tidbit you learn to share in conversation at your holiday gatherings.
Take A Nap
There’s nothing like a few extra hours of beauty sleep to re-energize your mind and body. Naps help remove the mental fog and sluggishness that often result from consistent stresses that only increase during holiday time.
