The Danbury Westerners are right in our backyard with their home field at Rogers Park, 21 Memorial Drive. They play in the New England College Baseball League and opening day for this squad is June 5th. The New England College Baseball League has become a nationally recognized top-tier league that plays in all six New England states and recruits players attending U.S colleges from all over the U.S. and from foreign countries. The League starts its summer season in early June and plays an eight-week schedule. The League Championship is determined by a playoff in early August.
A little farther afield are the New Britain Bees in New Britain, Ct. They play at the Beehive Stadium in New Britain and are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.The Hartford Yard Goats are a Double-A minor Eastern League affiliate of the Colorado Rockies and games on Friday and Saturday evenings end with fireworks. The Yard Goats actually have goat mascots and Family Funday Sunday’s.
If you are thinking about a weekend trip to Norwich, then check out the Connecticut Tigers, This Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and member of the prestigious New York-Penn League has played minor league baseball at Dodd Stadium since 2010.

And for those of you wondering what happened to the Bridgeport Bluefish, they will resume playing in High Point, North Carolina. The Ballpark at Harbor Yard is slated to open as an amphitheater for live concerts in 2019…stay tuned.
